Born into a middle class family, he began to develop his craft in middle school and it persisted into high school where he started to record on a professional level, releasing his songs onto MySpace. His musical career really began to grow when he attended an event known as “Juneteenth”, where the aspiring artist delivered an excellent performance – earning Young Cam Da Don a 1st place trophy for Best Rapper.
During his Senior year of high school, Cam dropped a mixtape titled, “Beastmode: The Preview”, and after graduating, he dropped, “I’m Just Gettin’ Warmed Up Vol. 1”. Eventually, at age 22, Young Cam Da Don met producer, Kajmir Royale, who motivated him to take his musical career to the next level. Cam is now working with notable producers such as Fuelo, Kajmir Royale, Twanbeatmaker, Chris Mecca, Sleepy Cobain, and K.E. In the future, Young Cam Da Don will be releasing “I’m Just Getting Warmed Up Vol.2” which will be released on all digital streaming platforms. ” Music has helped me develop equilibrium as far as I’m concerned. It feeds my artistic drive on what I can do to make someone forget their troubles.”

INTERVIEW
Hello, Young Cam Da Don! I’d love to know, when did you first discover your passion for music?
Y: When I was in middle school, I fell in love with the idea I could be a rapper when I would watch music videos of Cassidy, Chingy, Nick Cannon, and Jay-Z showcasing their talents on the big screen.
What three words would you say best summarize your music?
Y: Relatable, Entertaining, and Universal.
Tell me about your latest music release.. what was the inspiration behind it?
Y: “HeartBreak Cam 2” was based on the life I endured in my twenties which involved debt, sex addiction, womanizer life, terrible relationships, and a loss of a family member. I’d figure I might as well write about my shortcomings because shortcomings have no boundaries or color.
You have so many great songs released on Spotify – I’d love to know, what is your favorite song you’ve written or recorded to date?
Y: Thank you. It’s refreshing to hear that from you. My favorite song I wrote and has been my top favorite is “Overtime”. It talks about my struggles with working two jobs and taking everything away from me.
Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, and heal past wounds… in what ways has music helped you?
Y: Music has helped me develop equilibrium as far as I’m concerned. It feeds my artistic drive on what I can do to make someone forget their troubles.
That is very interesting! So, who are the first musical artists that inspired you?
Y: Cassidy, Big L, Notorious B.I.G., Pac, And Will Smith. They are talented in their own right but what keeps me enthralled by them is their consistency and resilience. I also want to throw out the beloved James Brown without him; I wouldn’t be doing the splits on stage today.
How do you want your music to help other people?
Y: I want them to know that they’re not alone in everyday problems. Instead of resenting from the world, I want them to feel accepted and say, “Hey, he gets me.”
What would you say is your songwriting process?
Y: My songwriting process is complicated, to be honest. I will say the most outlandish things you can think of while I’m recording and play it back so I can have oversight on what I can do to make it sound good and try to make it make sense. Eventually, I’ll get into the groove to write. Then a day later, I’ll listen to it again to see if it’s good to be released. If not, it’s back to the drawing board. I recently started doing this, and I regret not doing it earlier in my career so much wasted time, but you live, and you learn.
What would your idyllic life as an artist look like?
Y: Becoming a millionaire while also being married to Halle Berry at home, with a built-in spa next to a studio. It sounds like the ultimate euphoria of life to me.
What is the next “big thing” the world can expect from you?
Y: Expect to hear more of my actions and less on my words.
