Nikki Chainz announces upcoming new single, “Take Your Time”

Nikki Chainz, is an emerging singer, songwriter, and recording artist based in Augusta, GA. Growing up in a musical family, Nikki’s interest for music first began when she would accompany her grandfather to different performances he would play at. With the loving influence and encouragement from her family, she began to learn how to play different instruments including piano and guitar from a young age. She also attended many performances by notable bands such as U2, Rage Against The Machine, and more. These influences have undoubtedly helped shape Nikki Blanding into the talented and dynamic musician she is today!

Hello, Nikki! Thank you for joining us today. When did you first discover your passion for music?

Nikki: I first discovered my passion for music when I found a Guns N’ Roses cassette tape my parents had around six years old. It was the “Appetite for Destruction” album. I listened to it a lot, and loved Axl’s vocals and his style. I was also inspired by other artists from that era. I always tried to match the vocals of singers like Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, and others. They just had such a huge presence, and I really looked up to and admired that!

What three words would you say best summarize your musical style?

Nikki: The three words that I believe describe my music is alternative, Indie, pop.

Tell me about your upcoming single titled, “Take Your Time”… what was the inspiration for you to write it?

Nikki: The inspiration behind the song was mostly about being a woman and knowing what she wants while not being afraid to ask for it. It’s about setting the pace in a relationship. I feel like it’s an empowering thing as a woman to say what she needs out of a relationship whether it’s romantic, platonic, or otherwise.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… in what ways has music helped you?

Nikki: I realized that although I had self taught all the instruments I played, I never really did dive deep into actually perfecting my craft. I just knew I enjoyed playing and writing. Since then, I’ve grown a lot as a vocalist, a songwriter, and a performer. I also love how music has brought me to meet so many amazing and talented people who have taught me so much about the recording process, mixing, and so much more. Experimenting with different genres of music has been a lot of fun. I’m excited to continue my journey and growth as a musician!

What would your idyllic life as an artist look like?

Nikki: My idyllic life would look like being on the road, sharing the stage with my idols, meeting fans, inspiring others, bringing my kids along with me on tour (when they’re old enough) and just overall meeting amazing people who share the same passions that I do.
